Say Good Bye to MV Duolos

I am a bit shock when got to know the news that MV Duolos is no more sailing!

This remarkable ship officially stop its operation on 31 Dec 2009 due to safety and cost reason. Even there is a lot of party especially the crews on the ship are requesting to the authority to let them to continue its sailing until it's 100th birthday which will be due at year 2014.

However, due to the safety constraints, finally all the pleas fall of death ears. I believe that the authority would have been having hard time to make such decision and it is pity that it cannot reach her hundred birthday at 2014. However, safety will be always on top of every decision being made.

Look forward, probably there might be a second MV Doulos in the making!

Anyhow, I felt I am lucky to have the chance visited this ship once before it go to the end. Click here to go to the post. Last but not the least, I would like to thank all the crews and fans of MV Doulos whom have been so magnificent in supporting the ship operations until its 95th birthday. Well done guys!!

Sushi TEI - Uni Friends Gathering Singapore

Recently, we had our uni gathering in Sushi TEI, Vivo City Singapore. This was our first time to visit this restaurant in Singapore.

Heard that this sushi restaurant is one the famous and originated from Singapore. Click here to visit the official website (www.sushitei.com).

Hence, we waited for quite sometime before we got our seat in the restaurant. I ordered a fresh Salmon Don. I would say that the salmon are fresh, but it is expensive. I prefer the one I visited in Nijyumaru, JB. Interested? Click to visit this post about Nijyumaru.

Connie opted for udon. The portion is big, it is filling but the taste is ok.

Nonetheless, the restaurant has a good environment for 10 of us to meet up and share our experiences on our working life after 5 yrs of study in the university. It was enjoyable! Thanks to all for turning up!

From left invertable : {Cindy(Han's gf), Han, Chikkia, Me, Connie, Koon, Lewsoong, Pealong, Teong, Yin(Teong's gf)} Hope you guys enjoyed the dinner too! ^^

Jack's Place

The highlight for this month from CloudLand will be Jack's Place. I would say that it is one of the Singapore cheap eats.

We found this restaurant in Anchorpoint, which is just located right opposite of Ikea outlet in Queensway, Singapore.

We got ourselves seated, and the staff are very well trained and helpful. The restaurant environment is cozy and relaxing.

Glancing through the menu, looking at my watch, it show it is 1.3opm. So, we are eligible for the Set Lunch Specials! Depends on which main course you choose, it has a different price range($9.80, $10.80, $11.50 and etc...).
The Set Lunch Special includes:
1. Soup of the Day
2. Choice of Main Course
3. Dessert of the Day
4. Coffee or Tea

The menu for this Set Lunch Special varies daily. We placed our order and waited for our food to reach. And here it begins...

We were served 1 sky juices each and our starter arrived. Our soup of the day - Chicken & Corn Broth, and a FREE Garlic Bread! Wonderful!

Connie's main course arrived. Grilled Fillet of Fish with Walnut Butter Sauce. It served together with some green beans and carrots. A spoonful of mesh potatoes which is thumbs up. The fillet is fresh and it is just superb!

For my main course, it is Deep Fried Dory Fillet. The fries as well as the fillet are fried to golden brown. I love it!

After the main course, it is dessert time! We were given a sliced of chocolate moose cake and we opted for tea. The moose cake is too sweet for our liking, but it is still delicious ^^

Guess how much it cost us for the above? At SGD25.05(inclusive tax and service charge) it is a grab!

So what are you waiting for? Visit Jack's Place(a member of JP Pepperdine) now. Click here to visit the official website or go to (www.jppepperdine.com.sg)

♥ The 2nd Anniversary Gift ♥

Earlier, I have bought an Braun Buffel wallet for Pei Quan as anniversary gift. In return, when we went to Singapore for holiday cum shopping, he bought me a gift set from Braun Buffel also. The gift set consisted of a lady long wallet and a small wallet in fushia color.

Hmm, it looked as thought I am the one who is more advantageous in barter system. I gave one and got back two. Hehe! Thanks for the nice present.

The process of opening the gift set... All are still wrapped up!

The wallet is placed inside a pretty gift box. Even the box is well designed.

Unveiling the present...

Holding such wallet on hand, we must know why it is named as Braun Buffel. Actually, Braun Buffel is spelled in German and hence, Braun in German is Brown color. On the other hand, Buffel in traditional German family name is Buffalo.

So, as such it should be "Brown Buffalo". Wallet made from brown buffalo skin.

However, buffalo in fushia color is also very pretty and special. I love them so much.

Quan's Bday at Soul Thai

Happy birthday! May all your wishes come true!

Today is your birthday. This time, we had your birthday celebration together with your dear family's member.

We went to Soul Thai located at Sutera Utama, JB to have dinner. This restaurant is well decorated with traditional Thai cultural design.

Time to fill up our hungry stomach!

Tom Yam soup is the most important dish that you must try when you go for any Thai food! This is the seafood Tom Yam which we like it so much! It is so appetizing that will make you crave for more. Excellent to serve together with white rice.

The pineapple fried rice is served in a hollowed out pineapple. By it's look it is already so tempting. Putting it into your mouth, you will fill the juicy pineapples cutlets blended with the rice to perfection!

This is the Fried Fish with Serai Thai Style. An healthy dish to be exact. It contains a mixture of fresh onions, garlics, cashew nuts, special Thai sauce, sprinkled onto the deep fried fish. It tastes very well too.

Next up is the Thai Glass Noodle with Seafood Salad. This is somehow quite a special dish to us. Fried in a Thai way, it will be a hit for noodles lover.

This toufu is called Soul Thai Toufu in conjuction of the name of the restaurant. However the taste is very normal only.

Last but not least, the fried chicken with shredded green mango. I rate this dish as one of the best. Finger linkin' good!

Not forgetting a plate of fried vegetables to balance our diet.

Since today is your big day, sure we need to drink some red wine for celebration. This red wine is special as it is the wine we brought back from the famous Yarra Wineries in Melbourne. Superb! Wanna have a look on which wine we bought? Click here to view our Melbourne post. ^^

Swensen - Suntec City

When you ask anyone tried Swensen before? Does it taste good? Their answer will certainly be "Yes". Previously, I did have a dinner with a colleague of mine at Swensen, Vivocity. The result is, it is highly recommended.

However, this time both of us went to have our dinner at Swensen, Suntec City and it turn out to be a big disappointment for us. The service there is not up to the standard. We were made to wait for 10 minutes, to have the menu passed to us! More importantly, if we didn't request for the menu, no one cares about our presence in the restaurant. A big disappointment.

The restaurant is not very full though...

Anyway, let's focus on the food. Glancing through the menu, and finally we made our decision on what to order.

Free flow sky juices is provided.

Pei Quan ordered a butter herb prawns @ $15.90. The prawn is oven baked with herbs butter and topped with tangy tomato salsa. Apart of that, it is served with seasonal vegetables and savory rice. For me, this dish is too expensive. It tasted very normal only.

For myself, I ordered a BBQ half chicken @ $14.90. The chicken is tenderly braised and grilled in smoke BBQ sauce, and served with potatoes and seasonal vegetables. This dish is not bad. Worth a try!

We didn't go for any drinks but instead we opted for a dessert. This is the Banana Crumble @ $13.90. The banana crumble is served on a sizzling skillet with caramelized fresh banana slices and ol'fashioned vanilla ice cream topped with butterscotch cream sauce.

Look it is sizzling hot when it is served...

Butterscotch cream sauce is poured onto it...

Now it is reading to served!

It was a mixture of Cold and Hot, so it is quite special to try out.
