Day 3 - Amazing Traditional Oriental Splendour (Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho & Wat Arun)

After the shopping delight at Chatuchak, today we will experience the glorious treasures of this city- temples and palaces.

All 5 of us are wearing the new "victory item" from Chatuchak yesterday.

We headed to Saphan Taksin through BTS. Following the signboard, we walked down to the 1st stopping point of the central pier.

We have purchased the one day river pass for tourist (150 baht) from the counter for Chao Phraya Tourist Boat. With the pass, we can travel unlimitedly with the Chao Phraya River Ferry.

We have chosen the seat at the side of the boat to enjoy the beautiful scenery along Chao Phraya River. However, this doesn't seem like a good decision. The water is splashed up to us.

Our first destination today is the legendary Grand Palace complex and Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of Emerald Buddha) at Maharaj Pier. There is a free shuttle van provided from the pier to the Grand Palace for tourist with one day river pass.

This is a nice place to setup your tripod and take a group photo as no much tourist at here. ;p

The entrance ticket fee is 350 baht and it included the visiting of Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha, The Pavilion of Regalia, Royal Decorations and Coins, Vimanmek Masion Museum, Support Museum Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall and Sanam Chandra Museum. Make sure you wear properly when visited Grand Palace. Short pants are not allowed.

The Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

The architecture is really impressive and shining.

Devotees are performing their prayers.

The Chakri Maha Prasat Building. This is venue for Royal Ceremonies and State Banquets.

Even the trees are special. Leaving our memory in front of Dusit Maha Prasat Hall.

A sight to behold..

Have a close look on the details of the buildings. Absolutely perfect!

We have spent half of the day at here yet could not completely conquer all the classical monuments around grand palace .

There are also some gardens around the Grand Palace..

The lily pad and lotus flower look so dazzling and attractive inside the gold spires and roofs.

The weather is so hot at here. Thus, an umbrella is really important to keep you out of the sun. Alternatively, you must remember to apply sun block to avoid the sun burn.

We have spent some time at the Pavilion of Regalia, Royal Decorations and Coins.

Next stop is the Tha Tien pier. Wat Po (Temple of the Reclining Buddha) is waiting for us. Before this, we have to find some food to fill up our hungry stomach. As the time is so short, we simply ate the burger and mini crepe only.

Wat Pho is the oldest temple in Bangkok. The entrance fee is 50 baht per person.

There are more than 1000 Buddha images in Wat Pho.

There are some Chinese statues at the temple which shown the influence during the olden time.

The square shape chedi are decorated with ceramic tiles and three dimensional ceramic pieces which from the floral patterns.

The altar with Buddha is within the ordination hall.

Gold and crystal are in used in this hall.

The statue of the Reclining Buddha is so magnificent. Let's guess the length for the majesty Reclining Buddha. It is 46 metres long and fully cover with gold leaf?

The feet are inlaid with mother-of-pearl.

Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) is located opposite of Tha Tien pier. It's is worth to pay a visit to this striking riverside landmarks.

As we are too exhausted, there is no more energy for us to climb up the staircase of the central prang. Perhaps taking some photo as memory is a best choice for us. Hehe ;p

Trying something different :p

Our final group pic in Wat Arun, before we leave for Chinatown..

Chinatown is along the Yaowarat road. This is the 1st time we took the tut-tut. See how excited for everyone to have a photo with the tut-tut.

Can you believe that 5 of us can squeeze into 1 tut-tut? Haha. The day later we saw a tut-tut is fetching for 6 passenger. Don't be shocked. It is quite common at here. Thanks to the tut-tut driver!

It's time for dinner. If you have done some homework before come to Bangkok, sure you won't miss out the famous T & K Seafood. The Hong Kong TVB actor also visited to this restaurant before.

We have ordered fried prawns of chili paste with beam oil, tom yum soup, steam snapper with garlic, lemon juice and chili, oyster with omelet and fried vegetables.

After the meal, let's have some dessert. The bird nest at Nam Xing range from minimum 100 baht to 50o baht. Hehe, we have chosen the cheapest one to have a try.

A free chrysanthemum tea is provided also!

Many shops are closed during night time at Chinatown. Thus, we changed the "battlefield" to Suan Lum Night Bazaar.

Basically, it is similar to any others market at Bangkok. The different is we saw the Singapore actor - Jacelyn Tay at there. Her real person is very pretty but too bad she rejected our request to take a photo with her.

Pei Quan and Huang Ying each bought a backpack at Suan Lum. We ended our day earlier and plan to have some good rest tonight.
