Day 1 - Go! Bangkok!

It has been a long time since I am graduated from secondary school and this time, I am having a trip together with my "5 Mutiara"'s friend!

The fellowship of this trip consist:
-My best friend, Huang Ying, Ming Wee, Seng Hui
-My boyfriend, Pei Quan and myself.

Total 5 of us made up for this trip to Bangkok, Thailand. We have booked the flight ticket from Air Asia somewhere in September last year during the zero air fare promotion. To/fro it is only RM176!

It took me quite sometime to search for a budget hotel, planning for the itinerary and etc. Finally, it's fun time now! We are going to depart for Bangkok.

Pei Quan and me got the ball rolling from Melaka. We bought 2 direct bus tickets from Transnasional. The bus will depart from Melaka to LCCT/KLIA at 12.45pm. This service is actually very good for backpackers like us where cost will be our upmost priority. It is only RM22/pax. For more information of the bus you can visit http://www.transnasional.com.my/

The tickets..

Our luggages..

At about 3pm, finally we reached LCCT and waiting for the arrival of others travel mate.

This is the self checkin machine. We didnt use it though as we are told by a personel, once we use this self checkin machine, our sitting will not be the same. So, we stick with conventional way of doing - counter check in :)

Finally our friends arrived! We are ready to go!

After we check in our luggages..

We headed into the boarding gate and finally the time arrived..

We managed to take a picture with the flight which we will be taking to Bangkok. Hehe..

After 2 hours flight, we reached at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok. Bangkok's time zone is 1 hr different from Malaysia whereby it is slower by an hour.

Upon alighting from the plane, we had some phototaking sessions..

From left: Seng Hui, Huang Ying, Ming Wee, me and Pei Quan. We are just outside the check out hall.

We had our 2 person pic as well :)

Upon checking out, we headed towards the baggage collecting area. A big electronic signboard does help tourists like us.

After picking up our luggage, we headed down to the local taxi terminal at ground floor to get a taxi to our hotel - Take A Nap Hotel. Advise to all bagpackers, this taxi terminal is very easy to be identified. Make sure you see a row of counter, and you see a row of blue shirt guys queing up and this is the taxi terminal that offered you relevant price. We need to get a ticket from the counter first and the counter personal will arrange the taxi driver for us with a quoted price. A taxi will be 400Baht whereas a MPV will be 650Baht. We opted for the latter.

The taxi drivers are queeing up neatly to wait for their passenger. This is the taxi we took to the hotel.

It's me and Huang Ying posing happily in the MPV.

It took us about 30min drive from the airport to our hotel. After checking into the hotel, we immediately went out for dinner searching at Patpong Night Market. Take A Nap Hotel is very close to Patpong Night Market. With just 10 minutes of walking distance, we are able to reach one of the famous night market in Bangkok!

This is how the room is decorated in Take A Nap Hostel. I will blog more about this Hostel in my next post..

Our first stop was at the famous "Japanese Street" a.k.a Red Light District.

We didn't spent much time there. As we are not interested on those "services". Without wasting any time, we headed towards this very special 24-hour restaurant called Bug and Bee, for our dinner.

At the entrance itself, there are some set lunch special..

The interior of the restaurant looked so cozy and it used it's available space so well. Not forgetting to praise the service of this restaurant especially the boss, he is very friendly and nice. 2 thumbs up for the hospitality shown to us.

Initially, we were arranged to sit at a corner at the ground floor by the waitress but the space is a bit small for a packed restaurant. Upon our request to change to another place, the boss immediately find a new place for us and helped us to take this group photo! A really nice guy!

Looking at the menu, everything looked so tasty! We decided to choose one dish and a drink for ourselves and share it among ourselves.

For food:
This is my favourite food: Pad Si Yiu Crepe Noodles with squid. It is just sumptuous! 85Baht

The famous food for Bug and Bee, Curry Crab Crepe. At a price of 160Baht, the crepe is made to perfection and the ingredients is finger linkin' good!

This is the Sichuan Crepe Noodles with chicken. It is almost the same as Pad Si Yiu, but this add extra spice to it. Spicy lover will love this! 95Baht

This is the Mixed Seafood Baked Rice in Tom Yum sauce. I would regard the Tom Yum in this restaurant is not as spicy as we find in our own country. But it has the extra kick in it. It is just special! 115Baht

Lastly, the Pork Fillet in Baked Rice in Tomato Onion Sauce. The taste of the sauce is just nice. Not too thick. 90Baht

For drinks:
Mango Marvel is highly recommended. It is a fresh mango and passion fruit, freshly blended together with ice cubes and topped with chipped cream. 75Baht/cup

This is Buzzy Bee. It is orange passion fruit juice on strawberry jelly. A thirst quencher I would say. 70Baht/cup

This Strawberry Marvel. Almost the same with Mango Marvel but it is fresh blended strawberry which is mixed together with raspberry juice on taploca with whipped cream. Worth a try. 75Baht/cup

Cheap, filling, extremely tasty! Bug and Bee, I am sure I will pay you a visit again next time :) A happy loving couple :)

Is time to burn some fat. The night is still early in Thailand even though the watch on our wrist is showing 1130pm. Full of energy, we started the shopping trip at Patpong Night Market.

The thailand famous motor driven trishaw call "tut-tut". This is the "tut-tut" model made up from used beer can. Very innovative.

Some very specially designed porcelain made souveniers.

Some cute looking clothing for kids. It comes at a very cheap price.

You can also find some funky design clothing to suit the youngster in the market.

Some special lightings were on sale too..

It was just window shopping for us and we ended up in Family Mart.

You could see various instant noodles and crackers on sale in the mart. All are written in Thai. Special huh!

We made sure, we must not go back to hotel empty handed. So, we bought some mineral waters from Family Mart. Mineral waters in Bangkok is very cheap ;p

After that, we headed back to our room to have a good rest. On day2, we will be going to conquer the famous weekend market in town - Chatucak Weekend Market! Good night everyone!
