Trip for MV Duolos & Jusco Bukit Indah

During year 2006, that was the first time I heard about MV Duolos. Duolos is a ship that was built in 1914, 2 years later than the great Titanic. Hence, it is 95 years old now! Duolos is owned by GBA Ships e.V. (previously known as Good Books for All), a private, non-profit, charitable organization registered in Germany, whose idea is to have a floating book fair on the ship. This ship will travel all around the world and thus, introducing the culture of reading to every part in the world. All the crew on the ship serve volunteers. No salary is paid.

I wish to visit this special book fair since 2006 and finally Pei Quan made my wish comes true. This year Duolos is back to Pasir Gudang Ferry Terminal again from September 24 to October 7. On Saturday, we went to visit the book fair.

The entrance fee for the book fair is RM1 each person. Upon entering, we need to check for temperature to make sure we are "Fever free".

Can you see the blue sticker on our clothes?

This is the famous Duolos ship.

The ladder is a bit hard to climb up if you are wearing high heels.

Let have a look on the technical data for the ship.

The Duolos bow and main mast.

Besides book, there are also CD on sale.

The life boat for Duolos.

Most of the book shown in the fair are in English. There is a small section of book in Mandarin also. However, the variety of book is mainly for children. The price for the book is counted in units, where 100 units equivalent to RM8.

There are so many people there. The space for the ship is quite limited. Thus, it is quite hot inside the deck.

There is a counter selling icecream at there, each cost RM2.50. The icecream is quite creamy.

We strolled around for about 2 hrs there and have a short conversation with a volunteer-Mr Marcio on ship. He is friendly in answering our question.

The instruction on how to launch a lifeboat.

Pei Quan is trying to climb up to the upper deck.

After that, we went to jusco bukit indah.

Co-incident with the mid autumn festival, there is a stage well decorated with traditional lantern at the center of the shopping mall.

JB Great Eats - Ah Koong Restaurant

There are many shop selling fish ball noodle in JB, but do you know which one is the famous one? The answer is Ah Koong Restaurant located at Stulang Laut. It opens everyday from 6.30am until 11.30pm. The restaurant is air-conditioned with wifi. The customers ranges from local until Singaporeans. No doubt it is that famous!

Wow! This drink looked like adding in with a lot of artificial colouring. But actually, no colouring is added and it is original. This is the freshly blended dragon fruit juice which is rich with fiber and vitamin. Nice!

Besides the dragon fruit juice, we have ordered the orange juice also. It tasted pretty good too.

This is the fish cake which is a must try. You can notice that almost every table will have at least a plate of fried fish cake (rm3.80 per plate). The fish cake is very tender.

Now this is the fish ball soup with laver, vegetable, fishballs and etc. It came at a standard package. It offers for you to make any extra order if you would like to try some other specialties from Ah Koong. However, we didn't do so. The standard package is good enough.

The mee and kuey tiao mix with their special soya sauce and pork lard. For me, I am not towards pork lard, thus I find it is a bit oily. But if you are pork lard lover, I believe you will find the food heavenly. The noodles and the fish ball soup came in a single set. At RM5.50 per set it is cheap and nice.

Overall, the fish ball soup and the fried fish cake is worth a try!

My New Phone - Nokia E52

I got myself a new phone from the famous phone manufacturer Nokia. The model I have chosen is the latest Nokia E-Series(Business Series) E52. For full specs and details, click here.

Some might have wonder why I opt for this model rather than the ever popular N-Series.
1. It is solidly built. The metallic finish of this phone attracted me the most.
2. It came within my price budget. I bought it at RM1170(Avaxx/Zitron).
3. With such a big numeric keypad, sms and email will come at ease.

4. One of my criteria would be, it must be simple and light. At 99mm, E52 is one of the thinnest phone offered in the market.
5. As an old saying said, don't judge a book by it's cover. The performance offered by E52 can match those of N-Series. It came with GPS, 3G, WIFI, 3.2MP camera, 2.4"LCD and most importantly, the processor is the fastest of all - 600MHz.
6. The battery life can reach 600 hrs ~ 1 month if left on standy. Long life battery!

7. From the back, it is a metalic cover. You will not have any fingerprints problem on this type of finish.

8. There is no problem for this device to install Garmin Mobile XT. It loads instanly, reception is good; responsive is excellent! Thanks to its powerful processor.

In short, great work by Nokia!
